Dirk Bogarde's former Silver Dawn is here...

Let's be honest we have some super stunning vehicles visit the Awesome Workshop but this Silver Dawn is quite something: Formerly cherished by none other than Sir Dirk Bogarde, English actor, novelist, screenwriter, and iconic heartthrob.

Starring extensively in films from the late 1940's to the late 70's, Dirk Bogarde was a household name, he went on to publish several novels and memoirs before his death in 1999.

This 1954 Rolls Royce, Silver Dawn was owned by Bogarde and featured in the movie 'Doctor at Large' (1957) This car was just one, of only 37 ever made in this style. Our client Nigel, was keen to preserve the cars interior and protect its future, without undertaking a full retrim: The brief was to clean, soften and repair... maintain the patina, and protect the history and significance of this car and its previous owner.

When the Silver Dawn arrived the leather of the interior seats and door cards was cracked and dirty....

We worked hard to salvage the existing and original interior - The team described the work as a 'labour of awesome love'! And it really was - with many, many hours spent cleaning, softening and restoring, before finally reconnolising this special leather interior.

Definitely worth all the effort... look at the results.
